My name is Michael Frisch and I have been using Linux for 12 years. That sounds like something you would say at a AAA meeting. I use Debian and have for many years, and have used it to deploy desktops and servers alike. I enjoy computer security and have managed to learn a thing or to over the years. I use kde as a desktop when I bother to have one, zsh if I don't. I do not currently have a box but did just build a desktop for a co-worker. I have played with at some level most services provided be it smtp or jabber or iax, I also enjoy playing with xen. I would enjoy a live meeting in the near future, maybe we could have a community build-fest or something...if anything we can swap gpg keys. My drop email is mfrisch189@gmail.com if anyone is interested in meeting up. I am also entertaining any employment offers anyone has in the Flagstaff area if anyone hears of anything.

LJ4300 & LJ5M Printer Network works only sometimes over Debian 3.0

Hi. I have a HP LaserJet 4300 and a HP Laserjet 5M printers connected to our corporative network and their computers sometimes print their works normally and sometimes user have to make their print request twice. In this last case sometimes they isn't any network or OS response until the second request and then print oK and sometimes has an error message:

Error in <printer path/printer name> en <XXXX>: Cannot print, They are several causes for this error:

- Not enough memory
- If you are printing in a network. It's possible because a bad connection or bad print driver.
- Network computer cable damaged or network printer cable damaged

This error message appears also the first one who I make a print order. The second one works normally.
This error appears in several applications. The first case is not possible; I try to reinstall printer driver in some computers without success. network cables are OK and network connection normally remains during the printing process. Most of user computers works with Windows 2003 and both printers are connected with a HPJetDirect at the same server who works over Debian 3.0 Linux and Samba. When I look into the windows printer queue sometimes the job appears with "In Queue" Status. Could you help me please?. Do you need any addicional information for me or for our network manager? I hope an answer as soon as possible. Very thanks in advance. Best wishes

Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card

I need help installing a Belkin Wireless G Notebook Card. I was able to install the drivers from the belkin inf on the cd using "ndiswrapper -i /media/cdrom0/Files/WINXP/BLKWGNv7.inf" . Next I used "ndiswrapper -d 1799:701f blkwgnv7". This said that my Belkin card will use the blkwgnv7 drivers. So here is my problem. I tried running "modprobe ndiswrapper" and supposedly after a few seconds my cards lights should blink and I should be good to go. But my lights did not blink and I don't think the interface is up and running. Please help! Here's a link to a tutorial I followed:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-435065.html

Thanks!

Randy W

Update:

When "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" is used, a bunch of ouput shows, but the thing that caught my eye is "_spin_lock0/0". Something like that. Didn't get to copy it. But I believe the spin_lock is not allowing me to configure my wireless interface.
